Telecommunications

Since the Institute’s foundation in 1946, research in the field of telecommunications was one of the key R&D activities, and over this extended period Institute Mihailo Pupin was steadily a leader in the region (and at the moments even one of the world leaders) in applying latest technologies in order to satisfy growing telecommunication needs of the community.

In past two decades, R&D focus is on applications of signal processing technology in telecommunications, with emphasis on modem communications, data encryption and access multiplexers.

With over 30 years in Power Line Carrier communications, Institute Mihailo Pupin leverages expertise in sophisticated transmission techniques over high-voltage power lines. Our current research and development is concentrated on digitalization of existing analogue solutions, and implementation of advanced multicarrier modulations and digital signal processing techniques to withstand electromagnetic disturbances in such a specific medium.

IMP’s telecom experts have participated in designing of nearly all major telecommunication networks in Yugoslavia. Today, we have specialized in design and planning of advanced multiservice corporate and public networks with high QoS level.
