SAP-IMP Business System in Production
The Mihajlo Pupin Institute's ERP business system, SAP-IMP, was put into production on February 28, 2008. The implementation of mySAP was started in March 2007. A team of Pupin's and S&T (Belgrade) company's experts implemented a solution comprising the following modules: FI (finance), MM (warehousing and purchase), SD (sales and distribution), CO (controlling), HR (human resources) and PS (project system). As the Institute's operations are project-oriented, project implementation control through the PS module is necessary. This is the first complete implementation of project system in Serbia.
Source data (on customers, vendors, employees, materials, stored items, cost locations) required for operations in SAP were transferred by interfaces from Amadeus – a business system used previously at our Institute. Only new data groups needed for the PS module were manually entered in the SAP production server. Intensive preparations for the production stage were in progress in the period January 21 to 28 – the day on which work in the new business environment started officially.

The first VAT calculation was completed successfully on February 10, 2008, thanks to the special efforts of key SAP-IMP users – a team of over 30 staff members. They prepared and entered all the required January-dated documents in no more than ten days.

Phased user training has been in progress since December, and some modules have already entered the second training cycle. VAT calculation for February was completed successfully.

In the course of March it is planned to harmonize mySAP with the Institute's business practice, perform fine tuning and eliminate diagnosed shortcomings. SAP-IMP is expected to enter a stable work regime by June this year. After that, the Institute's quality management system IMPISO is planned to be modified in accordance with the changed business environment.
