Reconstruction of 308.5 MW block A4 in TPP Nikola Tesla completed

By the Contract, signed between Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) and Institute Mihailo Pupin in December 2006, it was settled that the new fully computerized SCADA system would be implemented during the modernization of the block A4 in Thermal Power Plant Nikola Tesla.

Total value of works performed by the Institute was 140 million RSD. IMP followed the agreed dynamics of works and after the successful test operation phase (the end of 2007) the celebration on the occasion of the completion of block reconstruction was held on January 10, 2008. The process of modernization of thermal block A4 was completely financed by Electric Power Industry of Serbia with money earned by sale of electric energy. According to the words of Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic, the capacity of TPP blocks was raised for further 400 mega vats owing to the investments made so far in the reconstruction. That is more than the power of a single thermal block. Our Institute deserves credit for that since our experts have mastered the new technology for Computer Controlled Thermal Power Plant Operation and implemented it in four thermal blocks in Serbian thermal power plants.

Control of  the A4 thermal block has been the most complex task performed by our experts until now as it was the biggest reconstructed thermal block of 308.5 MW which was also significantly different and more complex than the others. This confirms, once again, competence and ability of our Institute to design, deliver and implement the world top quality equipment and SCADA software.
