A New Challenge at The Nikola Tesla Thermal Power Plant

The Mihajlo Pupin Institute is just about to expand its list of references in the area of supervisory control of power plants by yet another item. The delivery of equipment for the 210 MW A1 block of the Nikola Tesla Thermal Power Plant in Obrenovac is now in progress. This new 1 100 000 EUR Contract with the Electric Power Industry of Serbia has been awarded to MPI after two successfully implemented modernization projects – at the Morava Thermal Power Plant and A2 block at The Nikola Tesla Thermal Plant. The Electric Power Industry of Serbia as the investing party has once again stimulated Serbian companies to demonstrate their expertise and skills on a task regarded as the most complex in this area in which there are just a few competent manufacturers and suppliers on a world scale.

The Nikola Tesla Thermal Power Plant has six blocks, two of which have been modernized by The Mihajlo Pupin Institute and two by Siemens. "We hope to win in striving to ensure for our Institute to implement the supervisory control of the A4 block, which is planned to be reconstructed next", says Mr. Milenko Nikolic, MS, Director of IMP Automation & Control. “We have already contracted new power plant supervisory control assignments – equipment delivery for two blocks of the Ðerdap Hydro Power Plant and modernization of the Ovcar Banja and Meduvršje power plants”.
