We are proud to announce that EUROFUSE
celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation in 2005.
On this occasion a workshop is organized on "Fuzzy
for Better". The main purpose of it is to communicate
and to promote knowledge of the theory of fuzzy sets in
OR-related areas, together with their applications.
Ever since EURO
(the Association of European Operational Research Societies)
has existed it has provided an organizational framework
for EURO Working Groups. The corner-stone for both EURO
itself and its working groups was laid in the first EURO
Conference in 1975, and the WG on Fuzzy Sets (together with
three other groups) was set up at the same time.
In 1998, the EURO Working Group on Fuzzy
Sets was revived, under the name EUROFUSE. The main purpose
of it is to communicate and to promote knowledge of the theory
of fuzzy sets in OR-related areas, together with their applications.
As a general principle, it should bring together people with
different backgrounds (like industry, university, etc) who
are interested in fuzzy sets and OR in order to exchange ideas,
experiences and research results
In 1999, EUROFUSE has joined EUSFLAT,
the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology, as
the Working Group focusing on operations research issues
in the area.
After successful meetings on Planning
and Scheduling (Mons, 2000), Preference
Modeling and Applications (Granada, 2001), Information
Systems (Varenna, 2002), and Data
and Knowledge Engineering (Warszawa, 2004), the coordinators
have chosen to dedicate the 2005 workshop to "Fuzzy
for Better". Theoretical as well applied papers illustrating
how the use of fuzzy logic in operations research has improved
quality of decision support, planning, scheduling, information
retrieval, etc. are most welcome.
It is our pleasure to invite you
to participate in the EUROFUSE Anniversary Workshop. We
hope that you will attend and benefit from the Workshop.
We look forward to meeting you in Belgrade during 15-18
June, 2005.
