SMEs - Small and Medium Enterprises
DSS utilization in businesses especially in small
ones typically generates qualitative benefits that are difficult
to measure by common indicators. In Institute Mihailo Pupin we have
developed a range of advisory tools tailored for use in small and
medium enterprises and aimed at improving their decision quality,
competitive edge, timesaving and productivity.
The objectives of decision support systems in
general are to:
• Improve decision-making ability
of SME managers and equity holders by allowing more or better decisions
within constraints of cognitive, time and economic limits
• Increase productivity of decision
makers (SME managers and owners)
• Supplement one or more of a decision
maker’s abilities (i.e. knowledge collection, formulation,
knowledge derivation and problem recognition)
• Facilitate one or more of the decision-making
phases (business intelligence, option generation and selection)
• Facilitate problem-solving flows
through better structuring of decision domain
• Aid a decision maker in addressing
unstructured or semi-structured decisions•
Enhance a decision maker’s knowledge
management competence, supplementing human knowledge management
skills with computer-based knowledge capabilities, etc.
