In seeking to address the concerns and challenges arising from changing environment in transition and upcoming integration into the European market and intellectual pool, there is a number of imperatives for the Institute Mihailo Pupin.

It must continue developing and enhancing its status as a 21st century technological institution of the highest caliber undertaking research, in niche areas, at a level comparable with the prominent R&D institutions worldwide.

Institute will emphasize and build on its unique strengths. One of these is definitely its pool of inter-disciplinary expertise, which results in capability to develop large-scale complex system solutions. IMP should remain a nucleus for nurturing Serbian & Montenegrin innovation capacities, where individual solutions for technical and organizational problems are generated in close collaboration with industrial partners.

Enabling a community-wide use of knowledge and information, and ensuring their effective utilization and universal access are prerequisites for economic, social and cultural development in today’s world. Institute Mihailo Pupin is determined to take a strategic role in a guidance of Serbian and Montenegrin community towards a knowledge-based economy as an incubator of ICT business ideas and an expert driving force behind development of a vivid ICT sector.

Institute should carry on utilizing the initial advantages provided by globalization and cross-border cooperation to position itself as a state-of-the-art institution, in the vanguard in availing of new technologies, capable of developing and delivering projects flexibly, effectively and cost-efficiently. A necessary context will be strengthening links with similar organizations or industry through co-operative ventures, partnerships, etc.
